1) Why should I try chiropractic?
Throughout my 19 years of seeing patients and families one of the biggest regrets I hear new patients say is, "I wish I had tried/knew about chiropractic sooner!” We are very frequently the last doctors people try and the first to provide relief and answers to their health challenges. Chiropractic is non-invasive, gentle, and effective. Don't wait to try chiropractic! Hear what a few of our patients have to say.
2) How can chiropractic adjustments improve my overall health?
Because we are working on removing interference to the nervous system (brain, spinal cord, and spinal nerves), which is the master control system of the body, an adjustment improves nerve function, which improves organ function, and ultimately system function. This is how our bodies heal, from the inside to the outside. Health cannot be obtained from outside in (medications or surgeries) as these procedures are designed to change your symptoms, but do not work on correcting the root cause. In many instances, spinal nerve stress is the cause of symptoms and pain and can be corrected with spinal adjustments.
3) Do adjustments hurt?
All I can say about this is that there's a lot of FEAR ( False Evidence Appearing Real) related to chiropractic. Let's answer this with common sense: If we actually hurt patients coming into our offices, do you really think we would have thriving practices? I know several chiropractic offices that regularly see over 1,000 patient visits per month.
My second response: My malpractice insurance is probably less than your car insurance (it definitely is if you are insuring a young teen on your policy). Do you really think our malpractice insurance would be so low if we hurt patients? Many MDs pay greater than 10 times our rates!
4) What conditions can be improved with chiropractic?
The following are conditions that I have personally seen improve both in my own life and in the lives of my patients through dedicated chiropractic care: neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, mid-back pain, rib pain, lower-back pain, hip pain, radiating pain, tingling, numbness, repetitive stress injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome and shin splints, spinal and extremity pain due to poor ergonomics, lower-back pain in pregnant moms, fertility issues (men and women), posture problems, foot pain, sleeping problems, restless leg syndrome, injuries from slips, falls and car accidents, dizziness, vertigo, fibromyalgia, muscle spasms, rotator cuff issues, balance issues, muscle spasms, muscle weakness, high blood pressure, asthma, sinus problems, allergies, bronchitis, indigestion, bed wetting in children, scoliosis, gait problems, and more.
5) How long will my appointment take?
Your first appointment will take about one hour for a consultation, examination, and X-rays. During your second visit, which takes about 30 minutes, Dr. Schwartz will review what he found to be your problem, let you know if he can help, and will advise how long your treatment plan will take.
If we cannot help you, we will gladly refer you to the appropriate specialist that we think can help you. On your following visits, the adjustment takes only about 5-7 minutes and is usually followed by ten minutes of therapy. So, after your first two appointments, a typical visit lasts about 15-20 minutes total. We try to be very cognizant of your time and your schedule as we know you all have busy lives. We also pride ourselves on staying on schedule. Rarely do patients have to wait more than 10 minutes.
6) What is the best age to have your spine checked?
We see patients of all ages in our office: from infants to adolescents, teens, young adults, adults, and seniors. Remember, the spine must be maintained for optimal function of your nervous system. Most infants are born healthy. It is only if invasive procedures (forceps, suction, induced labor, C-section) are performed during the labor and delivery that problems can occur. Your baby should be perfectly healthy after delivery.
It is only when a baby exhibits symptoms, that the spine should be checked early on. If your baby is healthy, then their first chiropractic check-up can be delayed to when they begin to walk, fall, play sports, carry heavy backpacks, etc. (major environmental stress begins). Remember, the earlier we find and correct a spinal problem, the easier and quicker it can be fixed and stabilized. The older we get, the harder things are in general to correct and maintain.
